With the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty by Michael Collins and Arthur Griffith there was a split created in the nation between pro-treaty and anti-treaty forces. One half wished to begin setting up a government while the other half denounced the treaty and began waging war on those in favor of the treaty. Debates became heated as both sides argued their cause. This pressure caused tempers to flare and violence began between two sides which turned into the Irish Civil War.
